It is sometimes necessary to complete dental treatment on children using IV sedation or general anesthesia to ensure a comfortable and safe experience for the patient. At Children’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, we do not make this decision lightly.
Often, treatment is first attempted in an office setting with or without sedative medications. However, we believe that conducting dental procedures in a surgical center or hospital setting can be the best option for some children, particularly those with extreme anxiety (dental phobia), mental or physical special needs or those who need extensive treatment.
Dr. Grant is on staff at several local hospitals, including Children’s National Medical Center, Prince Georges County Hospital, and Dimensions Surgical Center. All procedures are performed on an outpatient basis so that children are only in the hospital for a few hours instead of overnight. The anesthesia and nursing staff are highly skilled, courteous and professional.
