Why a Pediatric Dentist?
At Children’s Choice Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics in New Carrollton, MD, we know you want the best care for your child. That is why we would like to share important reasons to bring your child to a pediatric dentist specializing in children’s dental care.
Dr. Grant has 3 years of additional training beyond dental school in Pediatric Dentistry. Therefore, we are specially trained to deal with children’s dental issues as they progress from babies to teens. Our pediatric dentist is knowledgeable about all the latest techniques and approaches to common childhood dental and oral health issues. Our facility is designed with kids in mind. We also know that developing positive dental habits from a young age will benefit your children throughout their lives.
When Should I Schedule My Child’s First Visit?
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics, every child should visit a dentist by his/her first birthday. It is known that establishing a “dental home” early, a place where a child can feel comfortable and secure, can set the stage for a lifetime of healthy teeth.
To make this easy for new parents, Children's Choice Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics has created their First Tooth Club program. Under the First Tooth Club, all children less than 1 years of age receive a FREE first visit that includes a dental exam, anticipatory guidance, cleaning, and fluoride treatment (if needed).
What to Expect at My Child’s First Visit?
We want to make your child’s first experience at the dentist a positive and comfortable one. Your child’s first check-up will include a thorough exam of the mouth and teeth which may include radiographs, dental cleaning, exam, and fluoride. Present the visit to the dentist as something to look forward to and encourage your child to bring their favorite toy, blanket or music to listen to!
